For dogs who already attend our daycare or boarding programs, grooming is often an easier, less stressful experience — they’re familiar with the space, the routines, and the staff who care for them. That existing relationship allows us to tailor each groom to your dog’s individual needs, helping them feel secure, confident, and well cared for from start to finish.

Grooming Wellness & Safety Standards
At CNY Canine Academy, your dog’s health, comfort, and safety are our top priorities. To ensure a positive grooming experience for every dog in our care, we maintain the following general wellness and safety standards:
Health & Vaccinations:

Dogs must be in good overall health to receive grooming services.

All dogs are required to have current Rabies vaccines. Vaccine documentation must be provided prior to grooming beginning. It is best to send this ahead of time via email

Owners are responsible for disclosing any medical conditions, injuries, allergies, or recent surgeries before their appointment

Females should not be in heat/ in season at the time of their grooming appointment
Coat Condition & Matting

Coat condition is evaluated at check-in.

Severe matting may require adjustments to the grooming plan to ensure your dog’s comfort and humane handling.

If dematting is requested by owner, our dematting fee is $1 per minute

In some cases, grooming services may be modified or discontinued if matting presents a risk to the dog’s health or safety.
Behavior & Handling

All grooming is performed using calm, humane, and dog-centered handling techniques.

Grooming pace and methods may be adjusted based on your dog’s comfort level and behavior.

For safety reasons, services may be stopped if a dog becomes overly stressed or cannot be safely handled.

A handling fee will be added if there are behavior concerns or if a second person is needed to complete the groom.
Parasites &
Skin Conditions

Dogs should arrive free of contagious skin conditions and parasites.

If fleas, ticks, or skin issues are observed, grooming procedures may be adjusted and additional care may be required which may add an additional charge.
Safety First Policy

The safety of both dogs and staff is always the top priority.

We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue services if a grooming session cannot be completed safely or humanely.
Communication & Transparency

Grooming needs, expectations, and any concerns will be discussed at check-in whenever possible.
